This auction is for a simple working spyglass telescope of the Galilean design. During the era of Pirates and Tall Ships, this small sized telescope would have been in high demand for its ease of portability while still being able to magnify well. To make this even more portable, this spyglass has a leather carry case with a strap to sling it over a shoulder. The largest tube is wrapped in black leather to be more comfortable in the hand. The tubes are made of solid uncoated brass that will gain an authentic antiqued patina over time. If you do not want this patina, it is easily removed with polish. All optics are made of glass. The spyglass measures 14.5" unfolded and folds to a portable 5.5". It is a little over 1.5" at its widest. The leather carry case measures 6.25" tall and is 2.25" at its widest. This fully functioning spyglass magnifies to 12X, and is new with no problems
