Though it bears little resemblance to the original 1969 thriller starring Michael Caine, the 2003 remake of The Italian Job stands on its own as a caper comedy that's well above average. The title's a misnomer--this time it's actually a Los Angeles job--but the action's just as exciting as it propels a breezy tale of honor and dishonor among competing thieves. Inheriting Caine's role as ace heist-planner Charlie Croker, Mark Wahlberg plays straight-man to a well-cast team of accomplices, including Mos Def, Jason Statham, and scene-stealer Seth Green in a variation of the role originally played by Noel Coward. As the daughter of Croker's ill-fated mentor (Donald Sutherland), Charlize Theron is recruited to double-cross a double-crosser (Edward Norton in oily villain mode), and once again, speedily versatile Mini Coopers play a pivotal role in director F. Gary Gray's exhilarating car-chase climax. It's perhaps the greatest product placement in movie history, and just as fun the second time around. --Jeff Shannon

The Power of Kroll is the fifth part of the "Key to Time" story arc, which comprised the whole of Doctor Who's 16th season. Like its five fellow serials in the arc, it's engaging pulp science fiction laced with offbeat humor courtesy of Tom Baker's eccentric performance as the Doctor. The search for the fifth segment of the Key to Time leads the Doctor and Romana (Mary Tamm) to the bayoulike moon of Delta Magna, where the "swampies"--the planet's green-skinned original inhabitants--are on the brink of rebellion against a colony of hostile humans that have set up a refinery on their land. The swampies call upon their god, a monstrous octopoid known as Kroll, to avenge them, which presents a considerable obstacle in the Doctor's search for the segment. Hampered by technical and behind-the-scenes setbacks (and the swampies' ludicrous appearance), The Power of Kroll is a lesser but still satisfying entry in both the "Key to Time" story arc and the Baker episodes. --Paul Gaita

Nu-Flare is one of the best Quality Compact Flashlight using the 3rd generation Luxeon Rebel 90 LED from Silicon Valley (San Jose, California, USA). The new Rebel 90 has improved battery efficiency, generates less heat, and higher brightness than the Luxeon V. It has the tactical tail switch and a patented zoom focus from 1X to 4X. You should notice that this is the one of the first flashlight on market offer the zoom head. This one is small in very compact size. We saw one having a big head of 2 inches diameter. This is one of Best American Technology. * Warning: There are some non-Luxeon made counterfeit 1W, 3W, and sometimes even claim 8 Watt LED on the market. They are half as bright at best and have a bluish color beam. Their light will be greatly reduced after just few hours of use due to poor quality and poor heatsink property. They are much cheaper but they are definitely not the quality of Luxeon. They are usually shipped out from Hong Kong. They are also subject to patent infringement problems. - Long battery life - 13 hours total (6 hours at maximum output). It will output less light after 6 hours but still fairly bright until it the batteries run out. - Accessory: Carrying Strap - Water resistant, very durable aluminum housing - Up to 50,000 hours LED life - Very well focus adjustable zoom beam (1x to 4x). It is very good for police work. Manufactured in ISO 9000 certified factory with latest CNC machines and Surface Mount Technology robotic equipments. Defending Your Solar-powered Food
What do self defense products, flashlights, and solar panels all have in common? They all have a role to play in the lives of Americans in the coming decades. I'll explain how best to be prepared for future economic uncertainty and possible collapse of the western hemisphere. We need to begin by asking ourselves three questions-where will we live? What will we eat? And how will we protect these things?
One of the best ways to begin is by excluding oneself from the main city grid. This includes water, sewage, electricity, garbage, cable, internet, and telephone. If you can sustain yourself in this environment for a period of at least six months then you are ahead of 99% of the United States population in terms of survivability. I don't think it's necessarily a good idea to stay off of the grid but having a ready backup for each utility should be a sufficient enough plan. The reason we have a grid is to make things easier and cheaper so I'm not suggesting that you remove yourself before the collapse of civilization but to be prepared and capable of removing yourself if it happens.
At no other time in history have people been so removed from the earth. In an ideal situation we would all be trained farmers. Some people recommend a six month supply of food but I would recommend that beyond the six months of stored (canned, dried, and jarred) food that we have enough seed and knowledge to go beyond that if things get really bad.
Besides food, the next greatest challenge will be capturing and storing electricity. Although solar panels are getting better, people in cloudier regions will likely need an extra source such as wind. People near water might want to look into hydro power. Methods for storing and transferring this power are getting better and cheaper and will continue to do so, especially in the coming years. There are a growing number of creative solar power products at www.SolarDecoy.com.
Forget about having a land line telephone. Cell phones are better but still rely on the functioning of the cell phone towers and the companies that run the towers. A backup method should be two-way radios and similar products. Cable television and internet will need to be run on satellite.
No one is a hermit, not even the loneliest wilderness family in the deep woods of eastern Montana. We will all have needs that go beyond the basics such as eye glasses, medications, etc. This article was written to get people to start thinking about these things and to get prepared for the basics that we rely on every day such as food, water, and shelter.
As resources become scarce and valuable, people will be more likely to want to steal from you. Some people might become so desperate that they will kill for your resources. It is because of these possibilities that we must all be protected. Firearms are going to be the best deterrent for would-be aggressors but there are many other things that can be used in addition. Home and personal security gadgets such as door and window jams and anti theft devices can prevent a lot of crimes, especially when you are not at home.
Personal protection items such as pepper spray and stun guns can be a good initial deterrent. You can find a great selection of pepper spray and stun guns at www.AmericanBryant.com. Never forget the power of a flashlight. In areas where electricity is volatile or scarce, flashlights can be lifesavers. In addition, the Mag-Lite 6-D cell battery flashlight can double as a small defense club. These can be found at www.Lite-Mag.com.

How does a focal reducer effect the focal length of a telescope and therefore the mag power?
I have a 16" telescope with a focal length of 4064 mm. My reducer is a 6.3. Now I know that I have an F10 and with the reducer it gets knocked down to an F6.3 but what happens to the actual focal length of the telescope. Hopefully someone out there can help.
Hey guys thanks for your input and your experience. I was pretty sure I understood the process but that is what makes yahoo answers cool. You all had great responses. I thank you.
The reducer changes the apparent focal length of the telescope, but from the perspective at the eyepiece it doesn't matter what the "actual" focal length is--that's just a physical number that is pretty much irrelevant to your observing or your photography. The magnification power and the focal length are reduced by a factor of .63, and your brightness is increased accordingly, exactly as if your telescope "really" were an f-6.3. So focal length is 4064*0.63.
I don't know if you are asking anything more than just that, but in case you are wondering about whether there is a difference between "actual" focal length and calculated focal length, I'd say that if you have a catadioptric scope (Schmidt or Maksutov), there is no "actual" focal length of your telescope. Sounds like maybe you have a Schmidt if you have a 16" f-10 and a matching .63 reducer? With a Schmidt, your focal length of the primary mirror is actually something more likd f-2, but the secondary mirror acts as a focal length increaser that brings it up to f-10. So you could actually correctly state that you "actually" have an f-2, but that is meaningless because when you look through the eyepiece or take a picture, you get the equivalent of an f-10. So if you take a Schmidt with an f-2 primary, 5x focal increaser secondary and then add a .63x decreaser lens in the front, it's meaningless to argue whether your scope is "actually" an f-2, and f-10, or an f-6.3. The only thing that matters is the physics of the light at the end, and that light acts like it's coming through an f-6.3, so that's all you need to worry about.
