Can anyone tell me what these markings mean on a pair of binoculars 1) la Maire fab Paris 2) an upward arrow?

The 3rd marking is M.G. S3/21943
On the case itself is inscribed T.FRENCH & SON LTD 1916

The makers are La (or Le) Maire. If you google, there is lots of information, and there are some currently offered on eBay. Fab means fabriqué (made). The upward arrow sounds like the maker's mark, or it might have been marked later for British Government Issue (think arrows on comedy convict uniforms). The case maker is obviously completely separate, and the date is relevant to the First World War. Worth looking them up on the internet to find out if they did commissions for the British Military, but the Imperial War Museum may have more information.
